Step 3: Create an account

Please note - the system we use to manage virtual permits is called PermitSmarti. This is not part of My St Albans and this is not an app you need to download.

  • If you are only applying for a senior citizen permit, please choose ‘Car Park User Account’ in our new system
  • If you need a resident's permit and a senior citizen permit please set up a ‘Resident Account’ to apply for both permits

See short instructional videos in Step 1 if needed.

Create a permit account

Step 4: Apply

  • After you have applied, you will receive email confirmation of the start date of your valid permit, there is no paper permit, it is now virtual.
  • You will only need to display the paper clock in your dashboard showing your time of arrival. If you do not have a clock, please contact the Council
  • Your permit is not valid until it has been issued: an application alone does not cover your vehicle to be parked in a location that requires a permit. If a vehicle is parked without a valid permit, it is at risk of receiving a Penalty Charge Notice.
