We serve a District of 148,200 in South West Hertfordshire (2021 Census figure)
The Council has around 490 staff (355 Full Time Equivalent) plus some outsourced services
We have a total budget of £60m gross, £14m net (£8m savings over last 7 years)
We have 56 elected councillors
We have a Liberal Democrat administration
There is a strong Strategic Partnership and good relationships between private, public and voluntary sectors
Our key services are: housing, benefits administration, planning, building control, leisure services, heritage, markets, licensing and regulation, community protection, waste and recycling collection, environmental health, parks and green spaces, Council Tax collection, economic development, and events (to name a few)
The Hub at the Civic Centre – lots of community services including Citizens Advice, Communities 1st, Hertfordshire Constabulary, and various NHS clinics (plus lots more)

Our District is comprised of much historic environment and Green Belt land (81%), with a thriving modern city, towns and villages (St Albans, Harpenden, Wheathampstead, Redbourn, London Colney, Colney Heath, Smallford, Park Street, How Wood, Bricket Wood, Chiswell Green and surrounding hamlets)
Largely prosperous (90%+ satisfaction with the District as a place to live) … but also areas of severe deprivation
