St Albans Gypsy and Traveller Call for Sites 2024

The Council is required by the Government to seek to identify enough land to meet the District’s housing needs for Gypsies and Travellers. To meet this requirement the Council is carrying out a Call for Sites and is therefore inviting individuals, landowners or developers to suggest potential sites for Gypsy and Traveller use which are available and suitable for pitches and potentially for transit stopping places.

The sites put forward can be new sites, or existing sites with potential for limited expansion and/ or intensification (i.e. more pitches on an existing site within its current boundary).

Why are the Council doing this now?

As required by the Government the Council is carrying out a Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment (GTAA) to support the emerging new Draft Local Plan.

Please note that there have also been several previous Gypsy and Traveller Call for Sites (as part of wider Call for Sites for a range of uses).

Dates

The Call for Sites runs from Monday 8 July 2024 to Monday 19 August 2024.
