Pavement Licensing
St Albans City and District Council have responsibility of licensing tables and chairs on the highway (pavement licensing), as set out in the Business and Planning Act 2020.
Premises that place tables and chairs on the public highway (as defined in the Highways Act 1980) within the district, must apply for a pavement licence.
We have a policy which provides a consistent approach to the issuing of licences, which will allow furniture such as tables and chairs to be placed upon pavements.
The application forms, the policy, public notice and privacy notice are available to download below, alternatively these can obtained by e-mailing licensing@stalbans.gov.uk.
Notes:
Fees are currently set as grant £500 and renewal £350.
A boards are still the responsibility of Hertfordshire County Council Highways, information can be found here.
