Worms twinning: 20th Anniversary
St Albans Mayor has welcomed a delegation from St Albans’ twin town of Worms who came to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the St Albans-Worms Partnership.
The German visitors joined Cllr Salih Gaygusuz, Mayor of St Albans City and District, and British members of the partnership for the anniversary celebration on Saturday 17 October.
The event was held in Westminster Lodge Café and was part of a packed week which included attendance at St Albans Civic Service on Sunday 18 October.
St Albans was twinned with the German town of Worms over 50 years ago and the friendship group, St Albans Worms Partnership, supports and strengthens the relationship.
In another link with Worms, on Tuesday 20 October St Albans Mayor hosted a group of young people from the German town, telling them St Albans’ story.
Cllr Salih Gaygusuz, Mayor of St Albans City and District, said: “This has been a very special week of strengthening friendships and building understanding between German and British friends. On behalf of the City and District, I want to thank all those whose enthusiasm and commitment keep these links alive and meaningful.”
