Thousands eat at St Albans Feastival
St Albans was turned into a gastronomic wonderland on Sunday with crowds of 16,000 feasting on food, sampling local produce and enjoying the fun at the Feastival.
Two pop-up restaurants and over 70 food and drink stalls lined St Peter’s Street for this annual celebration of St Albans’s vibrant food and drink scene.
The Cookery Theatre took centre stage with local chefs showing off their culinary skills and passing on tips as they demonstrated how to cook their signature dishes.
Other highlights at the event included the Artisan Alley where local food and drink producers showcased their tasty creations.
After browsing the many stalls, visitors ate out in the open air while listening to the sound of live acoustic music.
There was something for everyone with plenty of fun activities for children, including meeting the animals from Oaklands Farm and painting coasters to take home.
The event was organised by St Albans City and District Council as part of the St Albans Food and Drink Festival.

Thousands flocked to this fantastic foodie extravaganza that demonstrates the gastronomic delights available in St Albans District. This event really helps to showcase local food and drink producers as well as the many restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs in the City.
The street festival is just one of the many events being held during St Albans Food and Drink Festival which runs until Saturday 29 September.
So far, residents have enjoyed CAMRA’s Beer and Cider Festival and an Italian ‘pop up’ food market.
Still to come is the George Street Gin and Jazz event on Friday 5 October. Visitors can enjoy browsing local shops and boutiques, tasting cocktails and dancing to live music at this event organised by St Albans Business Improvement District.
The festival will culminate with the St Albans Food and Drink Awards ceremony on Monday 8 October when the winners of this annual competition will be unveiled. More than 190 businesses were nominated for these awards across 14 categories.
