Recommendation on Councils chief executive appointment

Publication date:

St Albans City and District Council’s Employment Procedure Committee is recommending that Ms Amanda Foley is appointed as the Council's new Chief Executive. The recommendation will be made to Councillors at the Council meeting on 12 July.

At their May meeting, Councillors agreed a process for the appointment of a new Chief Executive. This follows the announcement that James Blake, the current Chief Executive, is leaving to lead the Youth Hostels Association (England and Wales).

Amanda is currently the Council’s Head of Corporate Services, responsible for customer services, HR and IT among other areas of Council business. She has previously worked in the retail and banking sectors, and the Civil Service. Amanda joined the Council in 2009 from Ofsted where she was Head of HR strategy. She lives in the District with her family.

The Chairman of the Employment Procedure Committee, Cllr Alec Campbell, said:  “We had a lot of strong candidates for the role, both internal and external.  We are pleased to recommend to Council that Amanda Foley be appointed Chief Executive. The final decision is for Council to make at its meeting on 12 July.”
