The Mayor invites you to St Albans' Civic Service 2015

Publication date:

Please join the Mayor of St Albans City and District for the Civic Service on Sunday 18 October, starting at 11am in St Albans Cathedral.

The Mayor, Cllr Salih Gaygusuz, will wear his official robes and be accompanied by his Mace-bearer. The Deputy Mayor, Cllr Gill Clark, will also be present together with Town, Parish and District Councillors and Honorary Aldermen.

A choir from Sandridge Primary School will sing at the service. Prayers will be read by representatives of the Mayor’s charities, Keech Hospice Care and Rennie Grove Hospice Care, and by Cllr Julian Daly and Cllr Richard Curthoys.

A delegation from the German town of Worms is also attending the service. The group is visiting St Albans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the St Albans - Worms Partnership. The partnership is a friendship group that supports St Albans’ twinning relationship with Worms.

The Cathedral is expected to host over 300 people for the service, including representatives from charitable and commercial organisations.

After the service, at approximately 12:30pm, the Mayor, Councillors and others will walk in formal procession from the West Door, up George Street to the Old Town Hall.

Cllr Salih Gaygusuz, Mayor of St Albans City and District, said: “Please join me for this special service at St Albans Cathedral. Our theme is love and peace and we will be celebrating our wonderful City and District.”

A collection will be taken for the Mayor’s charities, Keech Hospice Care and Rennie Grove Hospice Care.
