Don’t miss out on the spectacular food and drink street party
Thousands of people are expected at one of the most exciting City Centre events of the year – a six-hour street party to celebrate the District’s food and drink businesses.
The family-friendly and accessible event – known as the St Albans Feastival - is organised by St Albans City and District Council with the support of partners.
St Peter’s Street will be closed to traffic with the Feastival starting at 11.55am and continuing until 6pm on Sunday 22 September.
Among the many attractions will be around 100 market stalls offering a vast variety of food and drink products from many local suppliers and hospitality businesses.
There will also be a live cookery theatre, sponsored by SA Law, featuring displays of culinary skills by local chefs.
Live music will be provided on a stage, sponsored by St Albans City Centre BID, by some of the District’s most talented musicians and there will be street performers to add to the vibrant atmosphere.
There will be create and play zones across the site with multiple free interactive activities for all, including growing your own edible flowers, junk treasure jewellery, traditional wooden games, crazy golf and a football shoot-out.
To make the event accessible, there will be a British Sign Language interpreter on the cookery stage, accessible viewing zones, reserved seating for those less able to stand and accessible toilets.
There will also be a community safety zone, a quiet spot where people can sit and take time out from the action. It will include a place for breastfeeding.
The event is part funded by a grant from the Government’s UK Prosperity Fund.
Chris Traill, the Council’s Strategic Director for Community and Place Delivery, said:
The St Albans Feastival is a terrific event and I urge people to come along and enjoy all the many activities that are on offer.
This is also the community’s chance to show their support for our District’s fantastic food and drink businesses and sample some of their produce.
Our hospitality sector is of great importance to the local economy, attracting visitors and providing jobs, and this is a wonderful way to recognise their achievements.
The is also an exciting occasion for people of all ages and backgrounds and we have made great efforts to ensure it is accessible to all.
Vivien Cannon, BID Manager, said said:
With the many eateries located within our City Centre all year round, we know St Albans folk love their food.
This year’s Feastival will provide sumptuous tastes alongside all day entertainment sponsored by our City Centre businesses. Whether you come on your own or bring friends and family, join in our shared passion for taste. It promises to be a great day for tummy filling in St Albans City Centre.

The event is part funded by the Government’s UK Prosperity Fund which awarded the District’s community events team £210,000 over three years.
