Getting Involved

Lone rangers / Independant Litter Pickers Toggle accordion

If you are or planning to be a ‘lone ranger’ we ask you to be careful. As a ‘lone ranger’ it is important to remember the health and safety risks. You should always tell somebody you trust, where and when you are going to pick and never go out without proper clothing on. This includes suitable footwear and a reflective jacket.

Community groups Toggle accordion

Doing a community pick with your neighbours, friends, family or a local club can be a really rewarding social event.  It might be a one off or a regular event; every piece of litter picked makes a difference.

Opportunities for schools Toggle accordion

At St Albans District and City, we believe it is important for the youth to understand the importance of keeping our streets clean. If your school would be interested, we provide the opportunity to volunteer for litter picking sessions as a part of the DofE award.

No matter what age, we all need to mindful of litter and its’s negative impact on our neighbourhoods and the environment. Any students undertaking the DofE scheme can volunteer as a litter picker.

Disposing of litter picked waste Toggle accordion

We do offer to pick up the collected litter from our volunteers but if you would prefer to collect and dispose of the waste alone you can visit a recycling centre. Remember to separate the rubbish when emptying at the centre.

Please do not leave bags next to litter bins as they may be mistaken for fly tipping which is a finable offence.
