Electric vehicle charging points
Electric vehicle chargers
The Council is receiving a lot of enquiries at the moment from residents wanting an electric vehicle charger installed in their street.
The Council is not the Highway Authority, and has no powers to do this. The roads and footpaths across Hertfordshire are the responsibility of Hertfordshire County Council.
Hertfordshire County Council is in the process of considering whether or not to allow electric vehicle chargers to be installed in streets across Hertfordshire.
Residents may wish to talk directly to Hertfordshire County Council about this matter, or apply for an Electric Vehicle charger to be installed on their street. Such enquiries should be sent to evstrategy@hertfordshire.gov.uk

Electric charging points
The current electric vehicle (EV) charging network can be seen on zapmap. View it online or download their smartphone app.
Each point on the map includes:
- the types of plugs available
- how to pay
- how to report a fault - contact details for each provider.
Depending on where you are in St Albans District, you might find charging points in public or business car parks, petrol stations and on-street parking bays. Check for maximum stay limits or additional parking fees.
