Just a few days left to vote in St Albans and Harpenden Food and Drink Awards

Publication date:

Hundreds of people in St Albans District have already voted for their top choices in St Albans and Harpenden Food and Drink Awards 2015.

Voting closes at midnight on Sunday 16 August, so local people are urged to take a look at https://www.enjoystalbans.com/things-to-do/st-albans-food-and-drink-festival/ and get voting for their favourites.

The awards are organised by St Albans City and District Council with the support of an independent steering group of advisors.

Cllr Beric Read, Portfolio Holder for Community Engagement and Localism for St Albans City and District Council, said: “The quality of food businesses in the St Albans and Harpenden Food and Drink Awards gets higher every year. Voting closes soon, so don’t miss the chance to choose your favourite local food establishments and producers. Visit the website https://www.enjoystalbans.com/things-to-do/st-albans-food-and-drink-festival/and vote now for the local food and drink heroes who bring pleasure to your palate and a smile to your face.”

You can vote in the following categories:

• Best Bar

• Best Independent Food/Drink Shop

• Best Café

• Best Newcomer

• Best Local Producer

• Best Local Restaurant

• Best Pub

• Best Takeaway

• Most Family Friendly Venue

• Kate D’Arcy Award for customer service. This is a special award in memory of Kate D’Arcy, a popular local restaurateur who died in 2010.

The public vote will be used to create a top three in each category. A winner for each category will then be selected from the shortlist by the independent steering group against a range of criteria.

The winner of the most award categories will be named as the Food and Drink Champion.

The shortlist for each voted category will be revealed at the end of August and winners will be announced during St Albans and Harpenden Food and Drink Festival. The festival runs from Tuesday 22 September to Monday 5 October 2015.
