Don't miss the Street Finale of the Food Festival

Come to enjoy the gastronomic wonderland that is the Street Finale of St Albans & Harpenden Food & Drink Festival on Sunday 4 October.

Enjoy the food, drink and fun from 12 noon to 6pm along St Peter’s Street, St Albans. St Peter’s Street will be closed to traffic for the event.

Many of the activities are free and none require pre-booking.

At the Cookery Theatre you can watch cookery demonstrations by chefs from local restaurants and also by Cllr Salih Gaygusuz, Mayor of St Albans City and District. Each of the chefs will take part in an Omelette Challenge. The running order of the theatre is:

• 12 noon formal opening with a blessing from St Peter’s Church, St Albans

• 12.15pm St Albans Mayor cooks Turkish

• 1.00pm Cookery Eatery - transitioning into cookery for teenagers

• 1.30pm Christo Tofalli - Ye Olde Fighting Cocks chef

• 2.30pm Theo Michaels – ‘Masterchef’ finalist

• 3.15pm Jass @ Mokoko - Cocktails with class

• 4.00pm Phil Thompson - Thompson@Darcy’s Achievable Excellence

• 4.45pm Cinnamon Travelling Café - Caribbean and Indian Streetfood

• 5.30pm Cookery Eatery – school leavers and food beginners.

The World Food Zone brings food, music and henna painting. The Family Zone offers free face-painting and children can make their own tiffin with Pattacakes. Hear the music of local singer-songwriters at The Acoustica Corner. At the Kitchen Garden you can find allotment advice, live chickens and garden-related crafts. 

Other highlights include the Pop-Up Village Green featuring local pubs, the City Farm hosted by Oaklands College and Pop-Up restaurants by Lussmanns and Dylans at the Kings Arms.

Cllr Beric Read, Portfolio Holder for Community Engagement and Localism at the Council, said: “The Street Finale will be a wonderful celebration of the numerous good things to eat and drink in our District. There are activities for children and adults, and many of them are free. Come along to enjoy the delicious finale of what I’m sure will be the best-ever St Albans & Harpenden Food & Drink Festival”

The winners of St Albans and Harpenden Food and Drink Awards 2015 will be revealed at the Awards’ Dinner on Monday 5 October, 7pm for 7:30pm. Get your tickets now for the three-course seasonal dinner at the luxury Sopwell House Hotel where you can celebrate the winners. Tickets cost £45 per head and are available from St Albans Tourist Information Centre.
