Election for Parish Council seat

Publication date:

A by-election is being held on Thursday 4 October for a seat on London Colney Parish Council.

Around 2,500 people are eligible to vote with two candidates standing for the North West Ward seat.

The term of office will be to May next year when an election for all nine Parish Council seats is to be held.

Two polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. They are at London Colney Baptist Church Hall, 30 Kings Road, AL2 1EN, and the Cricket Pavilion, Pegrum Way, Napsbury Park, AL2 1GG.

Polling cards and postal votes have now been mailed.  Voters do not need to take their poll cards to their polling station, although it is helpful if they do so.

The deadline for a postal vote has passed, although there is still time to make proxy vote applications.

These should be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday 26 September, although an emergency proxy vote can be made up to 5pm on election day.

London Colney Parish Council is responsible for a number of leisure facilities in its area including the community centre, allotments and playgrounds.

Forms to apply to vote by proxy are available from the Electoral Services Office, St Albans City and District Council, The Civic Centre, St Peter’s Street, St Albans. AL1 3JE.

They can also be downloaded from www.yourvotematters.co.uk and should be returned to the above address.

Inquiries can be made by email on elections@stalbans.gov.uk or by telephone on 01727 819294.

The election result will be announced on Friday 5 October on both the Parish Council’s website, www.londoncolney-pc.gov.uk, and St Albans Council’s website, www.stalbans.gov.uk.
