Crime Prevention in St Albans District – Please Give Your Views!
Residents, businesses and community groups can give their views on how to improve crime prevention in St Albans District.
A public consultation has opened on ways to make the area a safer place to live and work.
People are asked to fill in a questionnaire on issues such as drug dealing, burglary, domestic abuse and the protection of vulnerable people.
The consultation, which runs until Sunday 31 March, will help the St Albans Community Safety Partnership (CSP) complete its strategy for 2024/25.
Anyone wanting to take part can do so online here. It only takes a few minutes to complete.
People who are not able to complete the survey online can ask for a paper form, an easy-read or large-print version or they can be assisted over the phone by a Council officer. Details for how to do this are included below.
The CSP is an umbrella group of public agencies that work together to reduce crime in the District.
Members include St Albans City and District Council, Hertfordshire Constabulary, the Police and Crime Commissioner and Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The proposed priorities for the coming year are protecting communities, dealing with antisocial behaviour and responding effectively to emergencies.
In addition, the CSP will continue to champion mental health and wellbeing among residents.
Councillor Jacqui Taylor, Lead Councillor for Housing and Community Safety, said:
I would urge people to complete this survey so they can have their say on how crime is being tackled in the District and where there may be room for improvement.
Along with our partner organisations, including the Police, we want to develop a strategy that is responsive to the concerns and needs of our residents.
By completing the survey, you can shape our community safety plans for the year ahead.
St Albans District Chief Inspector Martin Turpin said:
We work closely with St Albans City and District Council and other partner agencies to deal with crime and antisocial behaviour across the District.
But we need your help to help us shape our plans. We want to hear directly from you, the public, about your issues of concern, so please take a few minutes to share your views with us.
