Publication date:

Do you know a person or group that deserves to be recognised for their innovation or contribution to their local area? Tell us about them and they could win one of the Mayor’s Pride Awards that celebrate people who make a positive contribution to the local community.

Nominations can be made in the following categories:

• Community Champion of the Year.

• Cultural Innovation Award.

• Young Person of Distinction.

• Community Project of the Year.

• Community Oriented Business of the Year.

• Environmental Champion of the Year.

• Voluntary Sector Award.

• Inclusive Communities Award.

Now in their fifth year, the awards are seen as the flagship community recognition scheme in St Albans City and District. They are organised by St Albans City and District Council, in association with the St Albans District Centre for Voluntary Service (CVS) and Radio Verulam 92.6 FM.

The deadline for nominations is noon on Friday 15 January 2016. Making a nomination for the Mayor’s Pride Awards is quick and easy. The online nomination form and further information about the awards are available on the Council’s website. Although you cannot nominate yourself for an individual award, you are welcome to nominate the organisation for which you work or volunteer for a group award.

Cllr Salih Gaygusuz, Mayor of St Albans City and District, said: “The Mayor’s Pride Awards are our chance to celebrate extraordinary local people and organisations in St Albans City and District. They recognise the contributions of unsung heroes or volunteers who don’t seek praise for themselves. They also acknowledge the achievements and hard work of local groups and organisations across the District. If you know someone who has made a valuable contribution to the District, this is your chance to let us know.”
