St Stephens Church The Windows


St Stephen's contains a fine selection of stained glass which spans from the mid-victorian period up to 1965 - about 100 years.

The inscription reads:
In memory of Francis wiee of Samuel Reynolds Solly Esqre and daughter of William Hammond Esqre of Champneys who died July 30th 1848 aged 63

 

East End window East End window.

Christ raising Lazarus whilst being watched by Martha, Mary and three disciples.

Artist: Clayton and Bell circa 1860

The inscription reads:
In loving rememberance of Marcus Richard Southwell. This window is placed here by his sorrowing sisters and their husbands 1860.

 

Lady Chapel Window Lady Chapel window.

Christ the good shepherd.

Artist: Possibly Clayton and Bell or Heaton and Bayne, circa 1860

The inscription reads:
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
