The Rail Freight planning inquiry which started 6 November and will sit in the District Council chamber from 10am Tuesday to Friday each week for approximately eight weeks, will be re-located for one week only, whilst it helps to host the University of Hertforshire’s graduation ceremony.
Between 20 - 23 November, the public inquiry will be held in the Dagnall Street Baptist Church, St Albans, AL3 5EE, which can hold up to 220 people.
All seats for members of the public will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved. A set of proofs of evidence, summaries of proofs and statements of common ground, will be available for inspection at the District Council Offices. Anyone wishing to view these documents during office hours should make arrangements with Lesley Young, to do so. They cannot be removed from the premises. These documents can also be viewed on the Rail Freight link on the home page of the council’s website www.stalbans.gov.uk, which will also have updates as to the progress and the programme of events.
During the first two days of the inquiry, proceedings were broadcast via a live webcast and these webcasts will remain archived on the council’s website for 1 year. On day one, 387 individual pc’s connected to the webcast and on day two, there were 149. After completion of the inquiry the Planning Inspector will send a report to the Secretary of State who will make the final decision.
