Hertfordshire County Council elections will be taking place throughout the whole of Hertfordshire. St Albans City and District Council will oversee the elections for the ten Hertfordshire County Council divisions in the district.

You can vote on 4th May 2017 if you are a British, Irish, qualifying Commonwealth, or qualifying European Union citizen.
Details of the candidates standing for election are currently expected to be published on or around Wednesday 5th April 2017. These details will be available on our website, and will also be displayed at the St Albans City and District Council Offices at the Civic Centre, St Peters Street, St Albans, AL1 3JE.
To vote at a polling station you would need to cancel your postal vote. This can be done up until 5pm on Tuesday 18th April 2017. After this date, your postal vote cannot be cancelled and you cannot cast your vote at a polling station. You can return your postal ballot paper to your designated polling station, but it must be sealed in the return envelope together with all completed documentation and handed to the Presiding Officer.
As the administrators of the election, we must remain politically neutral. Therefore, we are unable to provide any information on the policies of particular candidates. Further details of political parties’ policies can often be found on their websites. Candidates are also likely to visit properties in the run-up to the election to deliver information about their particular policies.
We expect the results of the election to be declared overnight on 4th-5th May. Once the results have been declared, the results for the district will be published on our website. These results will also be displayed at the St Albans City and District Council Offices at the Civic Centre, St Peters Street, St Albans, AL1 3JE.
