Flippin’ fun had by all at St Albans Pancake Race
St Albans Pancake Races - 9th February
Around 300 people turned up to cheer on competitors in the annual Pancake Races in St Albans City Centre
Charities, local business and community groups were among the 28 teams that took part in the Shrove Tuesday fun.
Italian restaurant Prezzo won the Flippin’ Walkers Race with Lupe Perez, Veronika Tothova, Justyna Filipiuk and Maria Torres turning out for them.
The fiercely-contested Running Race was won by Cotlandswick Leisure Centre with its team of Alex Olcot, Jack Davis, Tom Croughton and Toby Seaman.
Both winning teams were presented with a Frying Pan trophy by Councillor Gill Clark, the Deputy Mayor of St Albans City and District.
Prezzo were also given a bouquet donated by Flowers, Flowers and Cotlandswick were awarded a bottle of champagne form Zefino Wine & Spirits of George Street.
The event, staged in St Peter’s Street near the Town Hall, was organised by St Albans City and District Council and sponsored by 92.6FM Radio Verulam.
